Celina city hall destroyed by fire Friday morning; temporary location is set up in Eads building on the square

CELINA-The building that houses city hall and the Clay County Rescue Squad here was destroyed by fire early Friday morning.

The building was described by mayor Buddy Thompson as a “total loss,” and firefighters were on the scene at roughly 2 a.m. battling the blaze, he said.

Officials were trying to determine the cause of the fire late Friday morning. See complete details on the incident in the June 10 edition of the HORIZON.

A temporary city hall has been set up on the square in Eads building (most recently a Chinese restaurant), city officials said. Phone lines have been installed, and people who need to conduct city business in person can do that there.

The city hall phone number is 243-2115.
