Basketball season tips off this Friday for Clay County High School
JAMESTOWN-The 2019-2020 Clay County High School basketball season will begin here this Friday night at York with the Lady Bulldogs tipping off versus the Lady Dragons at 6 p.m. and the boys contest to follow.
Both teams have been participating in preseason action for the last two weeks and are primed for good seasons, after each squad advanced to the sectional round last year.
The Lady Dawgs will feature a wealth of youth, with lone senior Kelcee Rhoton and returning junior starters Rachel Copass and Katie Arms providing leadership for underclassmen filing out remaining crucial roles.
Like the girls team, the Bulldog squad is also limited when it comes to experience. They feature only two seniors, with just one of those being a returning starter.
Jake Ashlock was a part of the initial lineup a year ago, but Mason Sharp also saw significant action, and the tandem will be charged with showing a talented group of underclassmen the way at week’s end.
Following the season-openers at York, the CCHS teams will travel to Spencer next Tuesday to take on Van Buren County.
