CELINA-Officials with Cumberland River Hospital (CRH) announced last week they will be taking the fist step towards reopening next month and they are planning to celebrate it with the community.

“We want to celebrate the opening of clinic, lab, and radiology services coming on February 3, 2020 with the community,” officials with the new ownership group said. “We are going to have a pancake breakfast on Saturday, January 25 at 9 a.m. in the hospital dining room and everyone is welcome to attend.

“We hope everyone will help us spread the word of the upcoming events, because the more, the merrier!”

The opening of a clinic was originally scheduled to occur on November 15, 2019 signaling an end to a nearly eight-month local healthcare hiatus created when the hospital’s doors were shuttered last spring by Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC)—which owned and operated CRH as a subsidiary since 2012 and recently sold the iconic healthcare facility for $200,000 to Johnny Presley and Rural Hospital & Clinics of America, LLC.

When plans were delayed, new CRH ownership released a statement saying Presley “faced numerous obstacles” trying to reopen the facility. The news release titled “Hospital in a fight to reopen” explained the holdup was due to a delay in the release of the facility’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provider number.
