Football and volleyball broadcasts coming soon

CELINA-The Horizon Sports Network will kick off its eighth season of broadcasting Clay County High School football this week here at John Teeples Field, as the live-stream affiliate of the Dale Hollow HORIZON newspaper carries the Bulldogs’ season-opener live from the press box high atop Joe Neal Eads Stadium Friday night.

Play-by-play announcer Daniel Strong and analysts Thomas and Jon Weaver are set to begin the 2024 season that night at 6 p.m. with the start of the H&H Auto & Equipment Parts Pregame show, and the game between the Dawgs and the Dragons will kick off at 7 p.m.

The broadcasts can be heard online at www.dalehollowhorizon.com or viewed with video on the Dale Hollow Horizon Facebook page at Facebook.com/dalehollowhorizon.

Listeners can easily access the live audio feed by visiting the newspaper’s website—where a button, featuring the Horizon Sports Network logo (pictured with this article) will lead them to a live-player.  There, with a single push of the play button, the audio broadcast will begin.

On the same page below the live-player, there is a “Game/Event archives” link for a page containing all prior broadcasts from both past football and basketball seasons.

A link to the Dale Hollow Horizon Facebook live video is also available on the newspaper’s website.  By accessing this link, having Facebook is not necessary to watch live broadcasts.

With Facebook, games can also be found by scrolling through the newspaper’s social media feed.  If viewers follow the Dale Hollow Horizon Facebook page, they will also receive notification when games go live.

In addition to the gridiron, plans are in the works for the debut broadcast season of Clay County Lady Bulldog Volleyball, thanks to 40-year veteran Craig Cantrell joining the HORIZON team.

Cantrell, who also calls spring sports on the Horizon Sports Network, has experience calling volleyball and will anchor the Lady Dawg broadcasts with Doug Strong serving as a color analyst.

Doug Strong brings with him a vast knowledge of all things Clay County sports, and he has been a guest analyst on the network during both basketball and spring sports in the past.
