Celina to battle Monterey for the conference crown
GAINESBORO-The Celina Jr. Bulldog football team is playing for the Cumberland Valley Conference Small School Championship here Saturday, after winning their opening-round playoff game last weekend to advance to the title game.
A 42-12 defeat of Pickett County on John Teeples Field last Saturday earned the Jr. Dawgs a shot at Monterey at 1 p.m. at Jackson County High School.
With the win over the Jr. Bobcats, Celina enters the contest with an impressive 6-2 record.
The Jr. Dawgs defeated Monterey 16-6 earlier this season on 8th-grade Night, and the team is led by 8th-graders Zander Sather, Karson Thornton, Easton Adams, Brentley Long, Landon Kirk, Nehemiah Hamilton, Weston Caruso, Bentley Martin, Logan Shirey, Chris Hand, Eli Andree, Bryce Evans, and Bentley Johnson.
