CELINA-The nomination period for the 2024 class of the Clay County Sports Hall of Fame will close on December 13, leaving less than a month for submissions of names to be considered for this year’s group of honorees.

The organization is committed to recognizing the outstanding achievements of Clay County athletes, coaches, administrators, and support contributors—both in the world of sports and in the local community, and will continue that work with an induction of 15th class early next year.

The nomination process is simple, and the future of the organization depends on the participation of the public.

Official nomination forms can be found online at www.claycosportshof.com or they can be picked up at Clay County High School (CCHS).  Completed forms can then be emailed to [email protected], dropped off at CCHS, or mailed to the school here at 860 Clay County Highway, Celina, TN 38551.

Nominations can be made in three different categories, including athletes and coaches, heritage, and contributor members.

Athletes who have been out of high school for 10 years are eligible, those whose careers were largely based at least 50 years ago fall under the heritage category, and contributors include administrators or people who were involved in some capacity besides coaching or playing.

Athletes whose careers date back at least 50 years can also be voted in as regular members if the nominator chooses to put them in that category.

Nominations are also not exclusive to those who played high school sports.  Athletes who excelled in a post-high school or other sport are also eligible.

Detailed nominations—which include statistics, honors, awards, and any other historical information—are strongly encouraged, in order to highlight the nominee’s merits.

Over 100 previous hall of fame inductees will vote by electronic ballot to determine this year’s class, therefore, the more information provided with nominations, the better.
