Hayes spends day with DeChambeau

Country stars reach out, support from the community continues
GRAPEVINE, TX-Pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau delivered on his promise to Evan Hayes last week, as the two-time U.S. Open Champion flew the 14-year-old to Texas to spend the day at his home and play a round here at the Grapevine Golf Course.
DeChambeau called Hayes last month when he returned home from the hospital to make the offer to the local leukemia warrior, who was diagnosed in 2017 and has battled the cancer since he was six years old.
Last Thursday, Hayes and his mother Stephanie hopped a flight from Nashville to Dallas, TX.
And the rest is history.
“I can’t even begin to explain to you the amazing person that Bryson DeChambeau is!” Stephanie posted on Facebook, along with videos and photos from the trip. “Yesterday was such an awesome experience for my Evan Hayes.
“Not only did Bryson cover our expenses for flights and hotel, he invited us to his house where we hung out for the day.”
She went on to explain they were granted “free range” of DeChambeau’s house while he did an interview and shot footage with video creator Zach King—who is a star himself.
According to Hayes’ mother, the duo chipped balls at DeChambeau’s house, before playing evening golf on the nearby course, and watching the sunset from the star’s roof-top deck to wrap up the day.
“Such a humble person,” Stephanie said about DeChambeau. “He even stopped and talked to and took pictures with everyone at the course who recognized him, which was pretty much everyone.
“He is such a positive guy and gave Evan lots of great advice. What an awesome humble human being!”
Country stars send
videos, local efforts
continue Saturday
DeChambeau is not the only celebrity Haye’s has received encouragement from, as multiple country music stars also sent videos to him last week.
Morgan Wallen was the first, before he also heard from Cole Swindell, George Birge, Colin Stough, Chase Matthew, and Ben Chapman.
The videos came on the heels of a successful benefit concert held locally, where Plainview Vibes, Cherokee Upton and Alex McLerran, Lucas McCoy, Crossfire, and more performed at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
Also last week, local schools showed their support by wearing orange for Hayes and other benefits were held, highlighted by a jeep, truck, and licensed side-by-side ride featuring nearly 50 participants over the weekend.
This Saturday, May 17 a Free Tailgate Party for Hayes will be held at Donaldson Park, featuring music, food, drinks, and more.
“Come out and celebrate our Evan!” organizers said. For more information, call 615-906-0992.
Another benefit concert will also be hosted by Plainview Vibes in Cookeville at the Roasted Hemp Company on May 31.
Donations for Evan Hayes are being accepted at the Bank of Celina and other area Citizens Bank of Lafayette branches. They can also be made via Venmo at @Shayes3232.
