Budget amendments dominate May county commission meet

CELINA-Clay County Commissioners approved multiple budget amendments, named a road in district four, and also approved a trustee report here at their May meeting last week.
Before diving into the amendments to the budget, commissioner Winton Young made a motion approving a resolution for a road in district four to be named Matthews Ridge Way. Commissioner Jerry Rhoton seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
The commission also approved the latest trustee report, after Young made the motion, commissioner Jennifer Ritter offered a second, and it passed 9-0.
The budget work then ensued, as commissioner Bryan Coons made a motion approving a resolution to approve the Clay County Highway Department budget amendment for 2024-2025. Ritter seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
Coons made a motion to approve a budget amendment for the Clay County general purpose school fund 2024-2025 year. Ritter also seconded it, and it passed 9-0.
Ritter made a motion approving a resolution to approve another Clay County Highway Department budget amendment for 2024-2025. Rhoton offered his second, and it passed 9-0.
Commissioner Dorothy Forney made a motion approving a resolution to approve the budget amendment for the Clay County general fund. Commissioner Jeff Gentry seconded the motion, and it passed 9-0.
Forney also made a motion approving Dane Ferrara as a public notary. Ritter seconded the motion. and it passed 9-0.
Commissioner Mark Poindexter was not in attendance for the meeting.
