CCHS well-represented on District 7-A all-stars

COOKEVILLE-Clay County High School had four first-team all-stars for the 2008-09 basketball season when the District 7-A all-star team was announced here Friday at the annual coaches pre-tournament meeting.
Coach Rob Edwards’ Bulldogs landed three players on the first team, while coach Sharon Kimes Lady Dawgs also had a player on the first team.
CCHS’ Nolan Dale, Tyler Edwards and Shawn Garrett were first-team members, while Amelia Kirk made the first-team in the girls division. Garrett is a repeat member of the first team, while Dale was a third-team member last season, and Edwards had made the second team the past two years. Kirk is a first-time member.
The honors for CCHS players didn’t end there. Making the second team were Scott Brown and Kayla Kimes (second straight year), while Katie Kerr and Tristan Watson made the third team.
Several local players also made honorable mention in their respective divisions. Bulldogs Nathan Knight, Caleb Lynn and Steve Dersham made honorable mention, joined by Lady Dawgs Sydney Roach and Sarah Ogletree.
Roach and Emma Ogletree were named to the all-freshman girls team.
