Clay students are showing support for Mitchell Boles

Dinner to honor local 16-year-old set for August 17
CELINA-The Clay County High School football team, members of the softball team, and other local students are showing support for one of their own.
CCHS fishing team member and fellow student Mitchell Boles was recently diagnosed with a type of bone cancer called osteosarcoma and will soon begin treatment, which has prompted his classmates and the community to rally behind the local 16-year-old.
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs stopped by to see Boles last week and presented him with cards, gifts, and other shows of support, including a #1 Clay County football jersey.
A benefit dinner in Boles’ honor is also being planned in the coming weeks at Beech Bethany Church of Christ.
It will be held Sunday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and pre-orders will be available.
“We invite you to drive thru and pick up a delicious lunch to honor Mitchell or stop in and eat with us,” organizers said.
Boles has also received a wealth of support on social media, including from his fishing family on the Tennessee BASS Nation High School & Youth circuit, where he has had success throughout his career.
Just over a year ago, Boles and his partner Nixon Melton notched a 5th-place finish in the 2024 Bassmaster Junior National Championship. The duo also fared well in their high school debut season over the past year.
