Reciprocal fishing agreement on Dale Hollow back in place
DALE HOLLOW-Anglers with Tennessee or Kentucky licenses can again legally fish Dale Hollow Lake’s reciprocal zone, after the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources announced new agreements with several boarding states last week.
Kentucky let it’s reciprocal fishing agreement with Tennessee expire here on the local lake back in March, which meant anglers had to pay close attention to where they were fishing on the portions of Dale Hollow near the state line between the two states.
With the new agreement now in place, anglers with Tennessee or Kentucky licenses can again legally fish all of the Wolf River area, including Illwill Creek beginning at a line crossing the Wolf River at its mouth where it joins the Obey River.
The only waters specifically requiring a Kentucky fishing license are the northern portions of Natty Branch, Hendricks Creek, Pusley Creek, and Sulphur Creek lying in Kentucky.
The reinstatement of the reciprocal agreement came last Thursday following adjournment of the Kentucky Interim Joint Committee on Natural Resources and Energy.
“We’re extremely proud of these new agreements because they make it easier for our valued license holders and our neighbors to get out there and take advantage of all the opportunities our shared waters have to offer,” Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Commissioner Rich Storm said. “We made this a priority to complete.”
When fishing reciprocal waters on Dale Hollow, anglers must obey the regulations of the state in which they are licensed, unless they are fishing from the bank.
Bank anglers, regardless of which state’s license they hold, must abide by the regulations of the state in which they are fishing.
