CELINA-Those caught throwing eggs here on Halloween will be arrested and charged with vandalism again this year, according to an advertisement published on page 6 of this week’s HORIZON.

“With egging getting out of control in the past, City of Celina officials are taking a no tolerance approach this year and will arrest offenders,” the ad says.

It also reminds there is an 11 p.m. curfew for juveniles, which will be enforced.

In addition, fines exceeding $100 will be levied for egg throwing, and the advertisement also explained all guidelines will be enforced with “no excuses” and “no exceptions.”

The warning comes in response to egging getting out of hand in the past, city officials said.

City officials also wanted parents to be aware of the fact they will be held accountable for minors’ conduct, including egging.

The city here has long had an ordinance in place addressing throwing eggs and various other projectiles around the holiday.

The city ordinance says “the period around Halloween has become a problem in the city of Celina because a number of people throw eggs, firecrackers, and other projectiles” which “constitutes a danger to” people and property.

The city ordinance says it is unlawful for anyone to possess “firecrackers, rocks, eggs or other projectiles for the purpose of throwing” them for a period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on October 26 and ending on November 5 at 11:59 p.m.

It also says “it is further unlawful to throw any projectile for the purpose of causing any damage to any person or property.”
