EMA and park director appointed

Multiple road names also approved at county meet

CELINA-Clay County Commissioners appointed an EMA director and a park director during their November meeting held here last week.
They also approved three new road names and two budget amendments.
Kyle Haney was appointed Clay County EMA director following a motion by commissioner Bryan Coons. Commissioner Jennifer Ritter seconded the motion, and it passed 10-0.
Commissioners appointed Lois Turner as the Clay County Complex Park Director. Coons made the motion, commissioner Dorothy Forney seconded it, and it passed unanimously.
Commissioner Austin Smith made a motion to approve a road being named Heron Trace. Commissioner Elizabeth Boles seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Smith made a motion to approve a road being named Henderson Huff Way. Commissioner Winton Young seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Smith also made a motion to approve a road being named Lawson Way. Young seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Young made a motion to approve a budget amendment for the sanitation department.
“We all greatly appreciate everyone who can vote for this,” Young said before the vote. “We all know that our employees are underpaid and this will give them a dollar raise. They all will appreciate it.”
Ritter seconded Young’s motion, and it passed unanimously.
Ritter made a motion to approve a budget amendment for the Clay County highway/public works fund. Commissioner Mark Poindexter seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Coons also made a motion to approve Patricia Collins as a public notary. Forney seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
