Bartlett slams home what is thought to be the first competitive dunk for the school during the 1978-79 season, his senior year, as a hidden teammate and three Gordonsville Tigers look on. Bartlett was a two-sport standout for the Bulldogs, and attended Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) on a football scholarship. Bartlett was recruited at MSU by the late former Tennessee Tech football coach Jim Ragland, who was then an assistant at Memphis.
