Willie Kerr will run for city mayor
CELINA-Willie P. Kerr announced last week he would be a candidate for Celina mayor in the upcoming city elections in June.
Kerr is a Celina native, residing in the Clark subdivision. He is married to Betty Lou Watson Kerr, and the couple has one daughter, Sandra Kerr, who is a pharmacist at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Kerr’s work experience includes “working for the city for 10 years, as well as a mechanic for OshKosh for 32 years,” he said in his announcement.
“If I am elected as your city mayor, I will be a working mayor for all the citizens,” Kerr said. “My office will always be open for anyone who wishes to talk to me. I will work closely with the elected officials to improve our city any way I can.”
Kerr said some of the goals he will work toward include: “water drainage problems, lowering the cost of water taps, keeping water rates down, striving to improve the unemployment rate and economy of Celina, keeping city taxes down, and applying for grants to extend sewage lines.
“I will appreciate your support and vote in the June election,” Kerr said. “I will try my best to see all the residents of Celina. I look forward to meeting each of your and earning your support.”
