The board approved a boys baseball team for grades 6-8 at Hermitage Springs, with Andrew Hall as coach and Brian Massey as a volunteer assistant coach.
In other business, the board:
• Approved a motion to request bids for a dust collection system for the new shop at Clay County High School (see ad inside today’s paper),
• OKed a general purpose budget amendment,
• Approved three school trip requests, and
• Reviewed several board policies, and rescinded an old Booster Club policy.
In the monthly schools director report, Donnie Cherry commended the CCHS boys basketball team on their accomplishments, included advancing to sub-state (sectional) play, and reported on a meeting with state assistant education commissioner Robert Greene on the federal economic stimulus funds.
