COOKEVILLE-Clay County High Bulldogs Nolan Dale and Shawn Garrett were named to Herald-Citizen’s annual All-Upper Cumberland boys basketball squad recently.

Senior Dale and junior Garrett were named to the second and third teams, respectively. They were earlier in the year named first-team All-District 7-A in a vote of league coaches, along with Bulldog Tyler Edwards. 

The all-star team was dominated by seniors, with 13 of 16 players on the squad being in their fourth year. Garrett was one of only three juniors on the squad. Dale averaged 10 points per game on the season, while Garrett tallied 13 points per contest, as the Bulldogs advanced all the way to the sub-state round this past season. The duo was two of only four 7-A players on the glitter squad. 

Livingston’s Chase Dunn was named the area player of the year for the third season in a row, while LA’s Richard Melton was named the top coach. The voting was by area coaches in a poll conducted by the Herald-Citizen, and includes players from all three basketball classifications.
