Subway restaurant will open in Celina later this summer
By RAY NORRIS
It was announced Saturday by the Clay County Partnership Chamber of Commerce that Celina will be the beneficiary of a new business locating here.
A new Subway restaurant, noted to be the most popular fast food chain in the country, will be coming to town in the very near future.
Van Presley and Gary Cox of Macon County have purchased the vacant property once known as the Trail of Tears market, just up from the Save-a-Lot store on Highway 53, and were scheduled to start the initial cleanup of the property on May 2nd in preparation of the actual construction of the restaurant.
It is projected that opening of the restaurant will be in July. Presley built the Subway restaurant in Westmoreland some years ago and also is the owner of the Westside Tire and a convenience store in Westmoreland.
Cox is the owner of The Garden Center Nursery in Lafayette. Both Presley and Cox expressed a great desire to become active in the Celina community as well as Clay County with respect to participating in all local programs.
