Adult Education Graduation and Recognition Night held
The Clay County School Adult Education Programs held their annual graduation and recognition evening at the Clay County High School Gymnasium on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
This was a joint event for both the Clay County Adult High School and the Clay County Adult Education GED programs.
Pride and excitement were evident through out the ceremony, by the students, their families, and the instructional staff.
The Clay County Adult Education program delivers courses daily to help students reach their goal of receiving the GED, while the Clay County Adult High School Program helps students attain their regular high school diploma based on individual student needs.
Guest Speakers for the evening were: Diana Monroe, CCHS principal, Buddy Thompson, City of Celina Mayor, and Dale Reagan, Clay County Mayor. The speakers gave students words of encouragement and congratulated them on their accomplishments, dedication and the commitment they all put forth.
Other persons taking part in the ceremony were: Keith Long, minister of the Celina United Methodist Church leading the opening prayer, Kenzie Adams, son of one of the GED graduates led the closing prayer, Donnie Cherry, Director of Clay County Schools, Stephen Chitwood, Adult High School Supervisor, Phyliss Boyce, Coretta Denton, and Linda Arnett, teachers and mentors for the students, and Anna Ruth Locke, supervisor for the Adult Education Program.
