Gore to open campaign for President Roosevelt

C.C. Gore of Livingston, reelected in August to represent Overton County in the legislature, will officially open the state Democratic campaign for President Roosevelt and state party nominees at the Clay County Courthouse on Monday, October 5, at 1:30 p.m.

 

Along with Mr. Gore, near 100 Democratic speakers will be opening the party drive at the various county seats over the state.

An election may soon be held to determine whether the citizens of Celina will favor issuance of bonds for waterworks, it has become known.

 

The board of Mayor and Alderman had a survey completed last year, and soon thereafter an election was held which resulted in the citizens voting against the proposition at that time.

Florence Tidwell visited her father in Nashville the past weekend and attended the State Fair while there.

Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Howard left Tuesday for Texas and Oklahoma. They were accompanied on their trip by Mrs. Nettie Davis of Cookeville.

The following officers were elected for the eighth grade: President-Willie Butler Upton, Vice President-Leon Barlow, Secretary-Hilda Poindexter, Treasurer-Bill Teeples.

Willow Grove News

 

The District school fair is over. It was quite a success and interest was shown in all events. The winner of Banner School honor lies between Willis Bottom and Pleasant Hill.

 

Tula Ledbetter is teaching school in Mississippi again this year.

 

Mrs. F.A. Spear has returned to her home in Big Sandy, after a visit with relatives here.

 

Cret Burroughs is working at Livingston.
