CELINA-Commissioners reappointed the Clay County Emergency Management Agency director for another year, and approved a collection form and startup date for the hotel tax at their October meeting last week.

The commission unanimously reappointed Natalie Boone to another one-year term as the county EMA director in the first resolution of the night.

Commissioners also approved a collection form for the recently-approved hotel occupancy tax, and set a startup collection date for January 1, 2010. The commission passed the 2.5 percent tax on second reading at the September meeting, after it has been approved by the state General Assembly in June. 

In other business, commissioners:

• voted to close and remove a portion of Clifton Rich Road from the county road map,

• approved a $416 budget amendment for an error on salary supplements for the UT extension service/Clay County 4-H program, 

• approved a $2,036 budget amendment “for the sole purpose of paying for drug court fees to the state of Tennessee,” and 

• approved Anna Ruth Locke, Frankie Burris, Karla Stannard, Laura Bell Smith and Rita Colson as notaries public.
