Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival a success; will be annual event
CELINA-Organizers say the first Clay County Chili Cook-off and Fall Festival was a success and will become an annual event.
“We were just very pleased with the way everything went, and the crowds and participation we had, despite some very cool temperatures,” said an event organizer. “We also want to say a big thanks for the volunteers who helped organize and run the event and to our sponsors.”
Over 175 commemorative sampling bowls were sold that day (and are still available), and big crowds bundled up and stayed for the local musicians who played throughout the afternoon.

The courthouse square was filled with decorations and storefronts around town were decorated with a fall theme.
Nine teams wound up competing in the cook-off, with trophies and monetary awards given out for the top three teams. There was also a Tasters’ Choice award voted on by those sampling the fare.
