Bulldog teams sweep Van Buren; split a pair with Cookeville
BYRDSTOWN-The Clay County High basketball teams split a pair of games with Cookeville in the Pickett County Thanksgiving Classic here last Friday, after having easily won a twinbill earlier in the week.
The CCHS girls ground out a 51-44 win over the Class AAA school, while the boys dropped a 75-54 decision to the Cavaliers.
The Bulldog team had traveled to Spencer earlier in the week and easily defeated Van Buren County in a pair of games.

The Lady Bulldogs took a 3-0 mark (including a Hall of Fame win) into last night’s home game against Red Boiling Springs, while the Bulldogs were 1-1.
Clay County is scheduled to begin District 7-A play Friday night at Monterey, and will travel to Clarkrange next Tuesday. They are then scheduled to host three straight non-district home games before a Christmas break and then some holiday tournament action at the end of December.
