Retiring teachers recently honored
CELINA-Four Clay County School System retiring teachers were honored here last Thursday night at the Clay County School Board meeting.
Schools director Donnie Cherry lauded the contributions of the teachers and school board chairman Dickie Roberts presented the retirees with a commemorative plaque.
The four teachers combined for a total of over 140 years of service.
Connie Arms taught 36 years, Sandra Gentry had 35 1/2 years, Judy Smith put in 33 years, and David Threet gave 36 years of his life to the cause.
“The entire teaching and administrative staff would like to thank all of these retirees for their tremendous work and the things they have done to further education in Clay County during their years of service,” an official from the school system said. “Their service to the children of Clay County will be missed, but not forgotten, as they take their places in the community as retirees.”
