Clay County fair starts June 11
CELINA-The Fairest of the Fair beauty pageant will kick off fair week on Saturday, June 8, starting at 3 p.m. at the entertainment complex on the fairgrounds, and the midway and nightly events will officially start on Tuesday, June 11 and continue through Saturday, June 15.
One big feature of this year’s event is the second annual giveaway of a flat screen TV. Tickets are free and will be available at the gate for Saturday’s pageant, and at the gate on Tuesday–which offers kids a free night of fun and Wednesday night. The winning ticket holder must be present at the drawing Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in order to win.
One new addition to this year’s fair is the offer of preferred parking passes, which can be purchased in advance from the Fair Association by calling Don Sherrell at 931-261-6198.
Annual staples like the quilt show and other craft exhibits will again be held in the Women’s Building, while feature events will take place each night in the arena. As always, the midway will light up the sky each night and food vendors will be serving up their wares throughout the event.
