Clay County Sports banquet is Saturday
CELINA-Induction ceremonies for the newest class of Athletes and supporters to enter the Clay County Sports Hall of Fame (CCSHOF) will follow a social hour and banquet here at Clay County High School Saturday, January 17.
The newest class of members to be introduced include eight athletes Craig Ogletree, Walt Weaver, Jack Napier, Dennis Smith, Billy Smith Jr., Suzanne Cherry Wayman, Chase Stephens and Randy Carnahan, three heritage members Joe Melton, Ray Bean and Betty Melton Smith, and contributor Kevin Donaldson.
An addition to those inductees will be athlete Derrick Anderson, who was voted into the hall last year but was unable to attend the banquet.
Inductees will also be introduced to the public during half-time of the Lady Bulldogs game versus Macon County which ids scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
The festivities begin at 1 p.m. as participants and others gather for socializing before the banquet is served at 2 p.m. Official inductions into the CCSHOF are set to start at 3 p.m.
Featured speaker for the event is former Celina High School quarterback Bill Napier. Napier also played football at Tennessee Tech and is currently a coach at Dalton, Georgia.
