Clay receives recycling grant
NASHVILLE-State Senator Mark Pody and Representative Kelly Keisling recently announced Clay County will receive $28,050 as a part of over $6 million in recycling grants handed out by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to reduce landfill waste in Tennessee.
“Grants like these are extremely beneficial to meet our local recycling goals,” Pody said. “I am very pleased my district will receive these grants and congratulate our county officials for their diligent work in securing these grants to help in recycling and conservation efforts.”
The grant awarded to Clay County and others to DeKalb and Smith counties are for education and outreach materials, general contracting, oil collection tanks, oil storage tanks, canopies, pads, oil filter crushers, oil pumps, oil tank removal, and other recycling efforts.
“I am grateful to Commissioner Martineau and TDEC for their investment in our community,” Keisling said. “These funds will help us enhance environmental safety and protect the quality of life for our residents.
“We must continue to support programs and invest in initiatives that enrich the well-being of our local citizens, as well as those across our state.”
