Annual spring clean up event set for next week in Clay County
CLAY COUNTY-The Clay County Mayor’s Office and the Clay County Highway Department, in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, are sponsoring the 12th Annual Spring Clean Up Event scheduled here for April 25-29.
The Clay County Sanitation Department is providing service for the event as part of the litter grant funding.
To schedule pick up of large items such as furniture, electronics, recyclables and other household items for disposal and recycling call the Clay County Sanitation Department at 931-243-4478.
The department will not be picking up household trash, yard waste or household hazardous wastes during this event.
The department said a household hazardous waste event will be announced at a later date.
Pick up days are scheduled as follows:
• District 1-Monday, April 25,
• District 2-Tuesday, April 26,
• District 3-Tuesday, April 26,
• District 4-Wednesday, April 27,
• District 5-Thursday, April 28, and
• Friday, April 29 is catch up day.
“Please call the day before your district schedule pickup date to allow time for adequate scheduling,” a department official said.
Adopt-A-Highway Program will also be in effect at this time and adoptees should pick up their designated highway and leave bags on side of road, and then call the department to schedule pickup of these bags.
The department said the Adopt-A-Highway schedule will be the same as Spring Cleanup Schedule.
