Both basketball teams in action Friday night
GAINESBORO-Both the Clay County High School Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will be in action together for the first time this season here Friday night, as they travel to Jackson County High School.
The Lady Dawgs have already played a pair of TSSAA Hall of Champions games against Upperman and Cleveland, while the Dawgs will take the court for the first time against the Blue Devils at week’s end.
The teams are also set to travel to Macon County next Tuesday, December 3, before returning to Celina for their home openers with East Robertson the following Friday night.
The Lady Dawgs lost both of their contests last week to begin their 2024 campaign at 0-2.
They fell at Upperman by a score of 38-53 and to Cleveland 39-61 playing in an event hosted at Coalfield High School.
Ella Eads led Clay County with 12 points in their game with the Lady Bees, while Haylen Garrison (9), Baylor Walden (6), Laci Wix (4), Brooklyn Scott (4), and Kaleah Crawford (3) also scored.
In the loss to Cleveland, Garrison led the way with 10 points and Natalie Smith added nine. Wix, Eads, Walden, and Jenna Thompson all scored four points apiece, while both Kailey Brown and Crawford had two each.
