Basketball gets underway with Lady Dawgs only
BAXTER-The Clay County High School basketball season tipped off this week, as the Lady Bulldogs began TSSAA Hall of Champions play here at Upperman Tuesday.
Due to the Bulldog football team playing in the Class A State Quarterfinals Friday, the Dawgs’ basketball season will be delayed, and games at Upperman and versus the UC Rams Thursday were cancelled.
The Lady Dawgs fell to the Lady Bees in their season opener by a score of 53-38 and will travel to Coalfield Saturday for an 8 p.m. EST tip with Cleveland.
What was supposed to be the first home game for both teams set for Monday, November 25 versus Livingston Academy, has also been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 17.
Both teams are still set to travel to Jackson County next Friday, November 29.
The Bulldogs competing against the Blue Devils will depend on the outcome of Friday night’s football game against South Pittsburg.
The Horizon Sports Network will carry as many Clay County basketball games as possible when football season ends online at www.dalehollowhorizon.com and on the Dale Hollow Horizon Facebook page.
