Deep test wells to be drilled in the near future
A number of deep test wells in Clay County will be drilled in the near future, according to Blackley and Beaumont of Chattanooga, oil men of much experience and who have leased a number of acres in this country.
Leases have been taken in Lillydale, Mitchell’s Creek and other sections of the county with a view of drilling to a depth of 3,500 to 4,000 feet, the drilling to begin shortly.

The Murfreesboro State Teachers College will begin its twenty-sixth year Friday, September 25, when the Fall quarter of the 1936-37 school year gets under way. A large enrollment is expected with the students representing every county in Tennessee.

A happy family reunion it was! On Sunday, September 20, a large group of relatives of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Butler motored to Hilham for a picnic and family reunion at the old home of Mr. and Mrs. Butler. The group carried lunch and “good eats” were abundant. They went to church at that place and met many old and intimate friends of the family.

Mrs. Nova Spear of Big Sandy, Tennessee is visiting relatives at Celina and Willow Grove.

The Celina P.T.A. elected officers and appointed a committee to change the by-laws at a meeting on Friday.
Mrs. W. Grady Sidwell was elected president; Mrs. J.B. Hamilton, vice-president; Mrs. Isaiah Fitzgerald, secretary; and Mrs. T.F. Kirkpatrick, treasurer.

Cordell Masters, Waymon Stone, John T. Stone and Joseph Williamson left last Sunday to attend school at Cookeville.

Hampton Maxey of Nashville was in Celina on Sunday.

Joe Williams, who has been in Johnson City Hospital for some time returned home on Friday.

The meetings at Hermitage Springs, Memorial and Miles X Roads to discuss with Clay County farmers the proposition of liming their land for winter cover crops, were held Tuesday by County Agent Charles Vaughn.
