Boating fatality reported on Dale Hollow Lake
CELINA-The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has reported 2025’s 12th boating-related fatality in Tennessee occurred here on Dale Hollow Lake last week.
“TWRA officers responded to a call on Dale Hollow Reservoir around 12:50 a.m. CDT,” a news release from the agency on Wednesday, June 18 said. “A man overboard, around Sewell Bend near First Island, was reported.
“Thirty-five-year-old Christopher Berry was reportedly camping with friends that took their Allison bass boat out fishing during the night. Berry was reported to have stumbled and fell into the water, and although attempts were made to assist Berry, he could not be reached.”
The release explained TWRA officers utilized their remote operated vehicle to locate Berry in 72 feet of water, and said his body was recovered around 8:30 a.m. the morning of June 18.
The information released also said the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Clay County EMS assisted in location and recovery efforts, and that Berry’s body was taken to the Nashville Medical Examiner’s Office.
