No major issues for Dale Hollow in the TWRA holiday weekend boating report
DALE HOLLOW LAKE-The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has released its boating report from the Memorial Day holiday weekend and no major issues were reported from Dale Hollow Lake.
A total of five injury incidents were reported from across the state, including eight property damage incidents, five of which were reported in the Middle Tennessee region.
The report said TWRA wildlife officers made 13 BUI (boating under the influence) arrests, with five coming in Middle Tennessee, six in East Tennessee, and two in West Tennessee.
The information released explained TWRA officers also assisted several stranded boaters over the weekend and one boating-related fatality occurred.
The fatality occurred on Watts Barr Reservoir when a 19-year old male jumped from a boat and did not resurface.
The call to officials came in shortly after 9 p.m. and his body was recovered in 24 feet of water just after 2 a.m. Sunday as TWRA officers and local agencies used a remote operated vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
TWRA reports there have now been eight-boating fatalities this year.
The TWRA said they had a strong presence across the state, despite storms and heavy rains limiting the number of boaters in certain places throughout the weekend.
In other areas not affected by the weather, the TWRA reported there was the normal high traffic of a holiday weekend.
