Brian Burchett retakes lead; one more week in regular season
Brian Burchett has retaken the lead by a single game as the HORIZON Peerless Pigskin Prognosticator regular-season race draws to a close.
Burchett went 11-4 in a pretty good week overall for the pickers, and caught and passed former leader Thomas Watson, who is a game back of Burchett after going 9-6.
Brent Burchett is two games back of his brother after also going 9-6, and their sister, Teia Adams, is now in solo fourth place after a solid 11-4 week. She is seven games out of the lead.
Defending champ Michael Miller (10-5 on the week) and Mark Strong (9-6) are tied for fifth place, two games back of Adams. Gary Strong (10-5) is only a game back of Miller and his brother, 10 games back of the leader.
Adams had a nice 8-2 record in the high school and college games that separated her from the pack a bit in the race for the final playoff spot. The panelists will have one more week of picks before the cut is made to the top four finishers (and ties).
Gary Strong picked up a game on the field by choosing Arizona over the Bears in NFL play, while Watson lost a game to the field by taking Houston over the Colts. The Texans stayed with Indy until the final gun, though.
All the pickers lost the Navy-Notre Dame game, picking the Irish, and everybody won on the Vol and Bama bandwagons.
