CCHS Alumni game a big success
CELINA-Former players from Hermitage Springs High School, Celina High School, and Clay County High School (CCHS) were encouraged to participate in Clay County Alumni Basketball games held here recently and many came out to compete in the fundraiser for the CCHS Basketball Boosters.
Twenty men and 11 women competed in a pair of games that turned out to be very entertaining for the good crowd in attendance.
In the women’s game, the white team–led by Megan Hamilton’s 14-point outing, beat the black team 52-27. Hamilton nailed four three-pointers in the contest, while her sister McKenzie was the overall high scorer with 18 points for the black team.
On the men’s side, Austin Cherry led the black team to a 86-79 victory with 21 points (5 three-pointers) despite a game-high 29 from Shawn Garrett, who trumped Cherry with seven makes from distance in the game.
Thanks to the success of this year’s event, organizers are already looking forward to next year and encourage all alumni to participate.
