Celina K-8 5th-grade essay winners announced

ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS-Celina K-8 students from Mrs. Dana Hammer’s class were recently honored for winning the “Why Is Agriculture Important” 5th Grade Essay Contest, sponsored by the Tennessee Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom and Tennessee Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee. Pictured (left to right) are 1st place winner Gatlin Craighead, 2nd place winner Jodi Sampson, and 3rd place winner Oakley Lynn, who were all awarded certificates and a monetary award from Clay County Farm Bureau. Essays were graded on Content & Accuracy of Information, Originality of Thought, Clarity of Expression, and Correct Use of Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation. Each participating student and teacher also received a gift card. “Clay County Farm Bureau appreciates all teachers and students that are involved in agriculture,” contest officials said.
