City approves budget first reading and other projects, before tabling bond to fund paving

CELINA-City aldermen approved the first reading of the budget and several infrastructure projects, and also tabled the issuance of a bond earmarked to fund the paving of city streets here during their June meeting,
Alderman Justin Rich made a motion to approve the first reading of the 2025-2026 general and water works budget. Alderman Kenny Westmoreland seconded the motion and it passed 2-0.
Two water department projects and one sewer project were approved to be sent out for bids (see page 3) following a motion by Rich, which was seconded byWestmoreland and passed 2-0.
The TDEC sewer project involves the rehabilitation of the lagoons at the city wastewater plant.
This particular project involves removal and disposal of the existing sludge in the lagoons and restoring volumes to their original design, according to the bid notice.
One of the projects regarding the water system involves the replacement and improvements of existing waterline throughout the Cedar Hill Community.
The other water system project is in the Free Hill Community. This project involves the replacement of the existing booster pump station, according to the bid notice.
City alderman also tabled the issuance of a $2,000,000 general obligation bond for the paving of the city streets.
