City budget, tax rate passed on first reading
CELINA-Aldermen passed the budget and corresponding tax rate on first reading for the City of Celina for the current fiscal year at their September meeting.
Aldermen approved a 92-cent tax rate, the same as last year’s, at the meeting.
The city budget and tax must be passed on two readings, and a second vote is expected at the October meeting of the board of mayor and aldermen, city officials said.
City officials are still weighing options and gathering information on a permanent home for city hall. The building which housed city hall and the Clay County Rescue Squad was destroyed by fire just after the June election, and city hall has been temporarily located in the Eads building on the square since then.
