Clay awarded part of nearly $150,000 in arts grants

CLAY COUNTY-When State Senator Ken Yager released a list of grant award recipients from the Tennessee Arts Commission for Fiscal Year 2026 in his Senate District 12, Clay County made the cut.
Clay County Government is set to receive $1,700 as a part of the first of a series of grants to be awarded throughout FY2026.
The share received here is a part of $146,250 total set aside for Yager’s Senate District.
“I am proud to announce these grants that support the vibrant arts and culture organizations across our district,” said Yager. “Investing in the arts strengthens our communities, preserves our values and traditions, and supports education in a meaningful way.
“These programs help uphold the rich heritage of Tennessee and encourage civic pride. Supporting the arts is a wise investment in both our cultural foundation and the character of future generations.”
“Tennessee is fortunate to have elected leaders who understand the positive impact arts and culture have on Tennesseans and their communities,” said Anne B. Pope, Executive Director for the Tennessee Arts Commission. “Arts and culture are vital tools for attracting and retaining businesses and help build stronger communities by enhancing the distinctive character of Tennessee places.”
The Commission anticipates awarding approximately 1,000 grants in both rural and urban communities in all 95 counties of the state during the year, totaling up to $12 million dollars in 21 Annual and Rolling Grant categories.
