Clay County Courthouse on historical record
IT’S OFFICIAL-A plaque officially announcing the placement of the Clay County Courthouse on the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Register of Historic Places was unveiled over the weekend during the county’s Sesquicentennial Kick-off event. Though county offices have been moved, the building still holds the distinction of being the second-oldest “working” courthouse in the state due to volunteers hosting regular events there throughout the year, which allow the grand old structure to continue to serve as the town of Celina’s historic centerpiece.
