Clay County Extension office offering State Fair entry help
CELINA-Locals wishing to take part in the Tennessee State Fair Canning Competition can get help doing so from the Clay County Extension Office.
“Want to showcase your prized jam, jelly, or preserves at the Tennessee State Fair?” Local extension office officials asked on Facebook. “We are here to help with registration and transportation if you would like to enter your canned goods.
“Items can be brought to our office until August 1st.”
The offer is open to all Clay County residents over the age of 19 and all entries will be returned to the local extension office following the State Fair for pick-up.
Besides the canning competition, Clay County 4-H members are also being encouraged to enter the Tennessee State Fair’s 4-H Photo and Public Speaking Contests.
The local extension office will also take photo contest entries to the State Fair if they are received by August 1st.
Digital photos only taken between August 15, 2024 and now are eligible to be used and they can be entered in two divisions—4th through 8th-grade and 9th through 12th-grade.
The theme for the photo contest is “All Things Pork,” and entries can include live pigs or some form of pork product.
The public speaking contest is open to 4th through 12-graders split into three divisions—junior, junior high, and senior high.
The contest will be held on Friday, August 15 and registration information can be obtained at the local extension office.
