Clay County Fair beauty pageant is set for June 6
CELINA-The Clay County Fairest of the Fair Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, June 6 at the Clay County High School cafeteria.
The pageant will have 15 different age categories, ranging from birth to 20 years old. All entries will receive a trophy.
The “Fairest of the Fair” category for ages 16-20 is open to Clay County residents only, but all other categories are open to residents of any county.
The pageant is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on June 6, with same-day registration from noon until 2 p.m., and pre-registration is available. Applications can be picked up at Joey’s, Donaldson Pharmacy or the Chamber of Commerce.
Age groups and classes are set up as follows:
• Class 1: girls 0-6 months,
• Class 2: boys 0-6 months,
• Class 3: girls 7-12 months,
• Class 4: boys 7-12 months,
• Class 5: girls 13-24 months,
• Class 6: boys 13-24 months,
• Class 7: girls 25-35 months,
• Class 8: boys 25-35 months,
• Class 9: girls ages 3 and 4,
• Class 10: boys ages 3 and 4,
• Wee Miss: ages 5 and 6,
• Tiny Miss: ages 7, 8 and 9,
• Little Miss: ages 10, 11 and 12,
• Junior Miss: ages 13, 14 and 15,
• Fairest of the Fair: ages 16-20 (Clay County only).

The pageant is sponsored by the Clay County Fair Board, Livingston Regional Hospital and Joey’s.
Fairest of the fair
The Fairest of the Fair winner is expected to attend the Tennessee Association of Fairs Convention in Nashville next January. If she is unable to attend the state Fairest of the Fair contest, she must relinquish her crown to the first runnerup, who will take the title. The local fair board furnishes room and $400 in expense money for the state contest.
Contestants in the local contest are judged on beauty (75%) and poise and personality (25%). Contestants must be a resident of Clay County, and sponsored by a civic club, school, business or parents. The entry fee for the Fairest of the Fair is $30, with a $10 fee to enter Miss Photogenic. The winner will receive a trophy, crown, sash and $50 in cash. The runnerup will get a trophy and $25, while the second runnerup will get a trophy and $15. All other contestants will receive a participation trophy.

Pageant officials are seeking to recognize any former Miss Clay County or Fairest of the Fair winners at the pageant.
