Clay County High School basketball teams falter in first round district play

LIVINGSTON-Even though both the boys and girls Clay County High School basketball teams lost their opening-round contests here in the District 7-A tournament, they will each go on the road this weekend to compete in Region 4-A play after receiving automatic bids to the next post-season round via their conference-tourney seeding.
Lady Dawgs lose semi-final battle with Lady Buffaloes
Despite overcoming a 12-point deficit to tie the game with just over four minutes remaining in their District 7-A tournament semi-final game with Clarkrange, the Clay County Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Buffaloes by a score of 55-51 and were resigned to playing for the third spot in Monday night’s consolation game with Pickett County.
Dawgs stumble out of the gate in district-tournament opener
Going in as the top seed, the Clay County Bulldogs were expected to take care of business in a match-up with Pickett County here last Saturday night, but that wasn’t the case as the Bobcats handed the Dawgs a 55-48 overtime defeat, sending them to the consolation game Tuesday night.
