Clay County school board votes to take bids for unoccupied factory building
CELINA-The Clay County School Board took the first step in selling the factory building known as the “ALS building” at their April meeting.
A motion “to declare the old ALS building as surplus property and to take sealed bids at a specified date and time for the purchase of the property, with the understanding that the board reserves the right to reject any and all bids” was made by board member Jason Coons, seconded by Todd Upton, and carried on a voice vote, according to recently released meeting minutes.
The building has been unoccupied since the Active Network call center closed its doors back in 2014.
In other business, the board voted to approve the purchase of a bus through a piggyback bid with Washington County Schools with Mid-South Bus Center for a 16 passenger+1 wheelchair bus for $64,494; to approve the 2017-2018 School Nutrition program budget amendment in the amount of $19,660; and to approve several trip requests.
Minutes also showed the May board meeting will be held on May 10 at Clay County High School, with a planning meeting at 5:30 p.m. to go over the 2018-2019 school budget.
