Clay EMS celebrates $1.3 million allocated for ambulances, more

One new unit already being prepped for service
CELINA-Senator Ken Yager, State Representative Kelly Keisling, and local officials gathered to celebrate $1.3 million allocated to Clay County EMS prior to this month’s Clay County Commission meeting last week.
Local EMS director Andy Hall offered details about the boost for his department, which will be used to fund various equipment upgrades, including the purchase of three new ambulances.
“We got 1.3 million in special appropriations after previously being turned down for three grants.” Hall said. “Senator Ken Yager spearheaded this and Representative Kelly Keisling helped us get this funding.
“This money is fully funded through a Tennessee Department of Health special appropriation (bill).”
Hall explained, in addition to the ambulances, local EMA will purchase a LUCAS CPR machine and new Stryker cots and stair chairs.
According to Hall, the department will also purchase portable suction units, a LIFEPAK 35 monitor/defibrillator, new iPads for inventory management, and upgraded security around the EMS facility.
“I want to thank Senator Yager and Representative Keisling,” Hall said. “It is a blessing to our community to receive this money. This will go a long way to help us out. Clay County is a distressed county without a hospital.”
The department also offered further details in a post on their Facebook page.
“The first ambulance has been delivered and is currently being prepped to be placed in service, with the remaining two on their way soon,” the post said. “These units are a major investment in the health and safety of Clay County, ensuring our EMTs and paramedics have the reliable equipment they need to respond quickly in emergencies.”
