Clay Senior Center serves up smiles, hot meals

CELINA-In celebration of Senior Nutrition Month, the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) is emphasizing the significance of Senior Nutrition Programs and their essential role in promoting the health and well-being of seniors here and across the region.
In doing so, they recognized the work of the Clay County Senior Citizens Center, where what was described as “smiles and hot meals” are being served up five days a week.
“We’re excited to celebrate Senior Nutrition Month and share the growth of our meal program!” local senior center officials said. “Since we began cooking hot meals in 2024, participation has greatly increased, and we’re thrilled to serve even more members of our community.
“All of the participants have expressed how happy they are with the meals and think they are fantastic—we couldn’t be more thrilled to hear such positive feedback!”
The meals are provided through the senior center by way of UCDD’s congregate nutrition program, which offers a nutritious lunch to older adults here and at 16 other congregate meal sites throughout the Upper Cumberland co-located at other senior centers.
The meals help promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of eligible consumers aged 60 years and older, and adults with disabilities through the provision of nutritious meals and opportunities for social contact.
“Hot, delicious meals are available Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., and we’d love to have you join us!” local officials said. “Call or stop by to learn how to reserve your spot!
“Come for the meal, stay for the community! We look forward to serving you soon!”
The Clay County Senior Citizens Center is located here at 145 Cordell Hull Drive and they can be reached by telephone at 931-243-3467.
