Commission deadlocked in first try to fill vacant District 5 school board seat
CELINA-No replacement was found for the vacant District 5 school board seat at the June county commission meeting.
The commission was deadlocked in its first try to fill the vacancy last week, with two votes between Nathan Sherrell and Jerry Eads ending in a 4-4 tie. Commissioners Mike Boles and Beverly Young were absent.
The commission was voting to fill the seat recently vacated by Wanda Daniels, with both votes going the same way.
Commissioners voting for Sherrell were Gray, Scott, Lee and Cherry. Those voting for Eads were Langford, Coons, Forney and Winton Young. After the second vote ended in a tie, the commission voted to postpone the next vote until its July meeting.
The commission also acted on nine resolutions at the meeting, mostly budget amendments, and passed a continuing budget resolution. Get details on those resolutions in next week’s HORIZON.
