Commission will consider budget at September meeting
CELINA-Commissioners are expected to vote on the budget for the current fiscal year at their September meeting, which will be held a week later than normal.
The estimated 2009-2010 budget, along with the estimated budget from last year and the actual budget from 2007-08, are found in the August 26 edition of the HORIZON.
The corresponding tax rate for this year’s budget is $3.10, the same as last year.
The Clay school board recently passed its budget and corresponding tax rate, which is $1.12, the same as the previous two years. The board unanimously approved both the school general purpose and “nutrition” budgets at a called meeting in July.
The school portion of the budget traditionally makes up roughly two-thirds of the overall county spending plan.
Officials said the proposed tax rate is broken down as follows:
• County general fund – $1.57,
• Solid waste/sanitation – .38,
• School general purpose – $1.12, and
• Debt service – .03.
Due to Labor Day falling on the usual meeting date, the commission meeting has been moved to September 14.
