Community events planned in honor of local students
CELINA-Multiple events are being organized by community members to help support a pair of local students battling cancer.
Recent Clay County High School graduate Kieran Olden and Celina K-8 student Evan Hayes are both being honored with upcoming events.
A blood drive is planned in Olden’s honor, while multiple fundraisers are being held to benefit Hayes and his family.
Like fundraisers for Olden’s family earlier this year, a gift-card drive is ongoing for Hayes, along with both a cornhole tournament and cakewalk event.
The gift-card drive organized by 2024 Clay County Miss Teen Haylen Garrison and Fairest of the Fair Laney Haynes will wrap up this Friday, while the corn hole tournament will be held Saturday beginning with registration at 5:30 p.m. and the cakewalk event will follow on Friday, June 28 at 6 p.m.
Both events to benefit Hayes will be held at the Clay County Fairgrounds Women’s Building.
The American Red Cross blood drive in Olden’s honor will be held Wednesday, June 26 from 1-6 p.m. in the Celina Community Center Community Room.
