Community rallying behind Evan Hayes

Event timeline for upcoming benefits published
CLAY COUNTY-The entire community is rallying behind Evan Hayes, who bravely continues to serve as an inspiration to all through his unwavering courage and spirit.
After being diagnosed in 2017 and battling leukemia since he was six years old, the now 14-year-old is back home with his family in Celina.
With medical teams having done their part, people, organizations, and businesses here are now doing everything they can to help Hayes enjoy his return home from the hospital.
Multiple fundraisers are planned, merchants are donating portions of their sales, and other efforts are ongoing in support of the young man.
A sampling of the fundraisers in chronological order include:
Tuesday, April 22
CELINA-All of the proceeds from coffee sales Tuesday here at Clara’s Corner will be donated to Evan Hayes.

CELINA-Half of proceeds from this week’s sales of Clay Powersports branded hats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts will be donated to Evan Hayes.
Saturday, April 26
HILHAM-Pigg’s Trigger Pull is hosting an Evan Hayes Benefit Shoot this Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. here at 139 Lonnie Nelson Lane, with all proceeds being delivered to the family at the Evan Hayes Cake Walk & Auction the same night at 5 p.m.
The cost for the shoot is $100 for eight rounds and a meal. A drawing for a Rossi Gallery .22LR Pump Rifle will also be held during the event. For more information, call 931-267-1692.

CELINA-The Clay County Youth Baseball & Softball League, which play at the Clay County Fairgrounds, will be donating all of their concession-stand proceeds from this Saturday to Evan Hayes.
“Come on down and get some food to support Evan,” organizers said.

MT. VERNON-A Benefit Bike Ride for Evan will be held here this Saturday at the Mt. Vernon Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 9 a.m.
The cost is $25 for one rider and $30 for two riders. For more information, call 615-655-7316.

CELINA-An Evan Hayes Cake Walk & Auction will be held here this Saturday night at Celina K-8 beginning at 5 p.m. with doors opening at 4 p.m.
“Dairy Burger mobile food truck will be set up, so come out and enjoy dinner and some fun with us!” organizers said. For more information, call 931-397-3840.
Sunday, April 27
CELINA-A Benefit Trail Ride for Evan Hayes will begin here Sunday at the Clay County Fairgrounds at 12 noon and supper will be provided after the ride.
“This will be a relaxed, easy trail ride suitable for all levels of riders,” organizers said. “Come out for a great ride, a good meal, and to support a great cause. Let’s ride for Evan!”

MOSS-Cryptid Cafe is taking donations of packaged or gently-used Pokemon cards for Evan Hayes here Sunday, where those who donate cards will receive a discount on their purchase.
Monday, April 28
CELINA-An Evan Hayes Benefit Spaghetti Lunch will be held here next Monday, April 28, with more details to come.

Sunday, May 4
CELINA-A Benefit Concert for Evan Hayes will be held here at the Clay County Fairgrounds Sunday, May 4 with music beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Performers will include Plainview Vibes, Zach Harper, Cherokee & Alex, Lucas McCoy, and Crossfire, with more to be announced. Tickets will be sold for $10.
“Join us for an afternoon of music, fun, face painting, and food vendors supporting Evan, the hero of so many,” organizers said. “Bring and lawn chair and an empty stomach.”
Saturday, May 10
CELINA-A Crawlin’ For a Cure Benefit Ride for Evan Hayes will begin here at Donaldson Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10.
Jeeps, trucks, and licensed side-by-sides are welcome, and a meal will be provided following the ride.

Saturday, May 17
CELINA-A Free Tailgate Party for Evan Hayes will be held here at Donaldson Park Saturday, May 17 at 5 p.m., with music, food, drinks, and more.
